At Seaworld we went underground to look at sea creatures below the water. They had a big poster up with all the different types of fishes, sharks and rays on, how many can you find in these pictures below? You can open up a bigger picture to see it properly if you click on it.

Ropes

Yesterday we went to Seaworld, we went on lots of different rides and a big adventure playground that had lots of nets and slides. Then my Mum and I went on a ropes climbing frame and that was really fun. To go on the ropes you had to put on a harness that went over your shoulders and up between your legs and around your middle. Then they attached a cord to it that also attached to the track above your head on the frame so if you fell off the ropes you wouldn’t fall to the ground.

Blue tongued lizard

This is a baby blue tongued lizard that’s living in our garden. It’s only about 15cm long but they grow much bigger. It likes to sit in our stack of sandstone because it’s safe there.

Blue tongued lizards like to eat lots of different things like snails, but one of their favourites that we grow are strawberries. We grow them in pots so it can’t reach them by itself so sometimes we pick the damaged ones (like the ones ants have eaten part of) and give them to the lizard. The lizard’s very cute! We’re trying to decide on a name, what do you think we should call it? We don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.

In the photo the lizard is flattened out so the sun can warm it up quicker because it is a cold-blooded animal which is different to humans who are warm-blooded. We don’t need to warm up in the sun in the morning to move around.

Rips

Today we drove past lots of beaches and at one of the beaches there were two rips, one near the baths and one big one in the middle. You could see them really clearly and they’d closed the beach for swimmers. The rip is the dark strip of water in the middle of the photo.

International Space Station

The last 3 night we have seen the International Space Station (ISS) fly across the sky while orbitting the earth. The ISS is a home to 6 people that flys around the earth and studies space. The astronauts change regularly because you couldn’t live in space too long. They fly up to the space station in the Russian Soyuz spaceship and the space shuttle used to fly there too. This is a video we took tonight, the ISS is the tiny dot that starts near the centre of the frame, the dark bit on the right is the Jacaranda tree in our backyard. It looked much brighter in real life.

That’s not snow!

Does this look like snow to you?

Well, it’s not. It’s actually spider’s webs! Since there was lots of rain in Wagga Wagga there has been floods so the spiders have moved up to just above the water height and all the spiders have bunked in together so there are sheets and sheets of webs. My Mum said we’re not going camping in Wagga Wagga anytime soon. The spiders being there is very good because they catch the mosquitos that have just been born.

Heel Clicking

We were trying to learn how to heel click this morning. They’re so much harder to do than they look, but suddenly I learnt how to do them on one side. My Dad finds them easy to do so now he’s trying to do double heel clicks and they’re not that easy. This is a video of my Dad doing some small heel clicks.

There are heaps of videos of people heel clicking on YouTube and here are some that I liked. The first one has double heel clicks, the second one has a heel click in slow motion and the third one has a girl doing heel clicks.

A froggy surprise

A few days ago we saw a frog up the top of a bush on a leaf. At first we thought it was bird poo but then we realised it was a little frog all curled up. When we were close to it and moving the leaf it opened its eye and watched us. It wasn’t scared until some other kids tried to touch it and it jumped away which was pretty good because we were worried that a kookaburra would come down and eat it because it was right at the top of the branch. We looked up frogs that live in Sydney and we think it was a Peron’s Tree Frog. It had only just come out of the water because it still had a lump where its tail was.

Pont des Arts bridge in Paris

We walked across a bridge in Paris called the Pont des Arts that has lots of locks on it that people have put on the bridge to say they want to come back to Paris again. All of the locks were different types, some were heart shaped, there were lots of different sizes and colours. There was even one bicycle lock and near the bicycle lock there was a really big lock. Most of the locks had messages on them like Homer loves Marge and the date.
The panel in the picture below is only one of about 100 that are all covered in locks just like it.
