A froggy surprise

Posted by Emily on February 26, 2012

A few days ago we saw a frog up the top of a bush on a leaf. At first we thought it was bird poo but then we realised it was a little frog all curled up.  When we were close to it and moving the leaf it opened its eye and watched us. It wasn’t scared until some other kids tried to touch it and it jumped away which was pretty good because we were worried that a kookaburra would come down and eat it because it was right at the top of the branch. We looked up frogs that live in Sydney and we think it was a Peron’s Tree Frog. It had only just come out of the water because it still had a lump where its tail was.

Hey Em! It was a delight to see this post in my RSS Reader this afternoon. I’ll be sharing it with my students this week, so hopefully they will comment. The frog photography is beautiful, and it’s happy to think of warm, froggy weather when it’s snowy, windy, and cold here!

    Hi Emily,

The blog post is really good and the pictures are great.

    Hi Mrs Cunningham and Chloe,

    Thank you for your comments.

Mrs Cunningham, I wonder where all of the frogs over there have gone since it’s snowy, windy and cold? Ours bury themselves in our garden over winter, I’m going to do a post about them soon.
